The Mauritian Wildlife Foundation cultivated, transplanted and restored 90% of this island, reintroducing plants, birds and native reptiles, so recreating the sanctuary of a flora and a fauna which can be seen nowhere else.

Blue Bay Marine Park

This beach, surrounded with a semicircle of filaos, is one of the most pleasant of the island with its fine sand, its deep light blue waters, ideal for water sports. Pass island, Vacoas and Lighthouse islands

One of the main historic centres of the island, Mahébourg is built on the magnificent bay of Grand-Port. Established in 1804 by the French governor Charles Decaen, Mahébourg was the witness of the only napoleonic naval victory on British. This victory is moreover registered on the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. Inescapable center of the economic life under the French administration, this place loaded with emotions is one of the rare of the island where this particular period the history remained engraved in the stone.
